ILMM, founded by Tomasz Starczewski, is a research-driven architectural practice that operates at the intersection of design, research, and innovation, exploring architecture through systems thinking and scenario-based design. ILMM aims to develop process-driven frameworks that address complexity, adaptability, and spatial narratives, fostering collaborations with diverse professionals and embracing cutting-edge technologies to deliver forward-thinking architectural solutions.
Tomasz Starczewski, IARP, ARB
Prior to founding ILMM, Tomasz Starczewski worked as an architect at Zaha Hadid Architects, where he contributed to a wide range of award-winning and high-profile international projects. With over 15 years of professional experience across Europe, he has collaborated with renowned architectural practices, bringing a wealth of expertise to his independent work. Tomasz earned his Master’s degree in Architecture from Warsaw University of Technology in 2009, following his undergraduate studies at the same institution. He further advanced his education with a Master’s in Advanced Architecture from the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona in 2010. He holds unrestricted architectural design qualifications in Poland, granted by the Chamber of Architects of the Republic of Poland (IARP), as well as UK architectural qualifications (Part III) and the right to use the title “Architect,” awarded by the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
Throughout his career, projects Tomasz has worked on have been widely published and exhibited internationally, including the research project "Mimicry", showcased at the 4th Beijing Architecture Biennale, and the PFFF Pavilion, presented at the Worlds of Cityvision exhibition at WUHO Gallery in Los Angeles. As the only Polish participant, he was repeatedly invited to the Freedom Of Creation Talents Program. For several years, he also served as a visiting lecturer at the Free University of Varna, contributing to architectural education and research.
